What a great find!
So if you're staying in Criccieth or within the local area this place is a really good visit and highly recommended.
As with most little towns and surrounding areas in Wales it's difficult to find a really nice pub / venue to eat. Well this place has absolutely changed that!
Just off the main road it's easy to find. Despite what Google says, it doesn't close at 20:30 - they just stop taking table bookings for food at this time so ignore that.
The first thing you notice is the beautiful frontage which at night, is lit up and looks really nice.
Upon entry, the bar is to the right and the restaurant / seating area to the left.
Service was brilliant from the get go and throughout - food was really tasty and clearly cooked fresh. We had the seafood tagliatelle which was so delicious and had a slight heat to it which enhanced the flavour somewhat! We also had the grilled salmon which again, tasted amazing.
Really good selection of drinks - ample choice on the menu - decor and atmosphere was also on point. The interior was that of a really modern, vibing country pub.
Brilliant experience, brilliant service, brilliant food.
Highly recommended!
I visited with my partner. I had the pie of the day (gammon) my partner had braised lamb. The pub is in a remote location, the interior is very welcoming. The waiting on staff are brilliant and attentive. The prices based on the quality of the food and service we received are geniunly less than I'd expect to pay. 10/10
We were a family group on holiday in the area and we had two birthdays to celebrate. It was a Thursday Night and we had prebooked.
Ample parking, lovely pub having recently been refurbished. Not cheap but value for money. Husband had the pie which he said was as delicious as it looked. I had the childs gammon and pineapple as the adults gammon was massive. Father in law had the curry and can't remember what the last one was but feel free to drool at the photos!
Lovely attentive staff too.
Highly recommend!
Passed this place plenty of times eventually booked for lunch. Absolutely lovely food. And nice polite staff. My sister and I will go there again.
My sister and I have been to the Goat inn for Sunday lunch. Really nice veg cooked just perfect.forgot to take pic of the Welsh lamb.
Today 11th June took my friend there for Sunday lunch we arrived at our given time. Got a menu each and told had an emergency ok what was an ambulance to do with the
Kitchen and the chef ? ordered what we wanted coffee arrived and waited for our starter that arrived. Then our main arrived an hour later
Then a wait for desert.
My friend not impressed and I was disappointed with the slow service and food served today.
Sorry but not happy.
Phoned as passing thru ,with 2 dogs table sorted within 20 mins , food was amazing as was the service.
Very well presented pub/restaurant highly recommend food here , my braised lamb is worth a drive back to have ,
Very dog friendly with water offered
We made reservations for a table of 4 at 8PM on a Saturday night. Plenty of tables open when we arrived, but assistant manager Jo insisted seating us at a table between the bar and kitchen. I asked to be seated at one of the many open tables not so close to the swinging door to the kitchen. Assistant manager Jo was ridiculously rude and absolutely mean meeting this request. I would have just left, but we had already committed to this rural location and it was 8PM. The wait staff was non-existing in drink requests. At no time did any wait staff check on us, literally throughout and that was with a near empty restaurant! My food came much later then the other three dishes. I thought they'd forgotten about my plate order as it came 10 minutes later, extremely cold lasagna. I figured at this point it was clearly done on purpose probably at Jo's direction. Horrible experience, rude to foreigners.
Sadly, we ate at The Goat Inn six years ago and couldn't wait to return, we had talked this place up to our guests. The pandemic has definitely changed people, I'd retrain Jo or dismiss her.
Worth a visit if you're in the area. Really nice food. Great service
Both my husband and I called for a drink just after opening last night, We were given a lovely welcome from staff.
We decided to have a meal and both ordered , "Gammon and chips with additional mushroom sauce" which exceeded our expectations huge portion sizes and tasty.
Lovely to see well dressed staff which appeared really comfortable smiling and engaging well with their manager.
Excellent experience overall will definitely be visiting again.
